This drilling process is commonly used on rotors installed on light to medium duty vehicles including high performance vehicles. The substantial improvement in braking you will feel and the warranty that is included with every performance drilled and slotted brake rotor, is worth the upgrade over stock replacement rotors.
Slotted and cross-drilled rotors are certainly stylish, but smooth is often the best way to go when sourcing brake rotor replacement parts. A reality check about the type of driving you are most likely to do with your vehicle will help you make the best decision for your needs.

The image below was sent to us by a customer who had purchased EBC Brake pads and BELIEVED he was also buying genuine EBC Brake rotors. Unfortunately these are a fake and a very dangerous fake. These rotors are THROUGH DRILLED or CROSS DRILLED which EBC DOES NOT MANUFACTURE and strongly recommends against for numerous reasons.
Slotted Brake Rotor Kit. Slotted brake rotors have always been a great alternative for improving braking without the drilled holes. Brake Performance created this kit to give improved stopping power over factory rotors while reducing heat, noise, pad fade and brake dust.

The cross drilled holes on your Power Stop Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors are counter-sunk for smoother pad-to-rotor transition as well as reduced risks of stress risers and fractures; Slots provide a direct conduit for gases to flow rapidly away from the center of your Power Stop Cross Drilled and Slotted Rotors
Cross-drilled rotors are often used from the factory on high-end sports cars, which is why they look fast to many of us, even when installed on a parked car. Like slotted brake discs, cross-drilled brake rotors provide an escape for the gas and dust that build up between the brake pad and disc.
Power Stop is a premium braking brand that produce a variety of different brake rotors. This complete kit includes a set of drilled and slotted brake rotors and ceramic brake pads along with the hardware required to complete a brake overhaul. Features of the Power Stop K137 Z23 Evolution Brake Kit include: Cross-drilled and slotted rotors
I had never tried slotted and drilled rotors before. I had to replace stock rotors due to severe warping. These new rotors do a great job of cleaning and staying cool. However, there is a very small amount of noise generated from the slotts in the disk when coming to a stop. Very happy with new rotors.
I had finally come to a set combo in mind with custom slotted rotors and ebc redstuff pads. However, off late I've been reading more and more mixed reviews about slotted rotors being noisy. Some say that they're quiet unless braking hard, and some say that you constantly hear a clicking noise even while driving and not pressing the brakes.

Given the choice between drill holes and slots, the drill holes will give you better braking power over slots for normal city/highway driving. This is why high end BMW, Porsche, Corvette, and Mercedes rotors are drilled, not slotted. However, for track racing (high speed stops), slotted rotors are the better choice.
My cross drilled rotors (not on my Charger) make some noise under braking. You have gaps that are coming into and out of contact with the pads. Mine are aftermarket. I have never noticed this noise on factory cross drilled Porsche, MBZ. Have driven quite a few of these. I would liken it to the chamfer angles of the holes.

Cross Drilled Rotors Cross drilled rotors are OEM style blank rotors that have been cross drilled to allow heat to escape that builds up between the brake pad and rotor through the drilled holes. Many people prefer drilled rotors because they like the look and consider it a good upgrade over an OEM blank rotor.
